Alexandra Dobkin (Dobs) is currently a software engineer at Bloomberg LP in the San Francisco office (complete with a tank containing stingrays and a shark!). At work, Dobs exclusively programs in JavaScript. In order to become a software engineer, she attended Hackbright Academy’s full-time bootcamp, an all-women full-stack web development program. She had a phenomenal experience with Hackbright and currently serves as a Hackbright Ambassador. Previously, she held careers in management consulting as well as in finance. She studied Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences, Economics, and Anthropology at Northwestern University (go cats!). Dobs enjoys having an interdisciplinary perspective, and is proud of her non-traditional background. When not coding, she can be found doing Pilates, sound therapy, or attending modern art museums.
